2 out of 3 tourists who visit natural spaces in Destination Barcelona do so as a family
The OTB presents the third monographic report Profile and Habits of Tourists in the Destination of Barcelona on tourism in natural spaces
The typical tourist profile of this type of tourist in Destination Barcelona is a 36.4-year-old person, resident in the rest of Europe (38.8%), who has traveled for leisure (75.2%), as a couple (54.1%), who have arrived at the Destination mostly by private vehicle and plane (41.6% and 40.3% respectively), have stayed in a hotel (49.0%) and has previously visited the municipality of overnight stay (58.8%). Noteworthy an increase of 17.9% of tourists who have traveled as a family (63.5%) and another one of 86.4% who have stayed in a campsite (16.4%) during their visit to the Destination Barcelona.
When planning the trip, the tourist who carries out outdoor activities and visits to natural spaces in Destination Barcelona use the information provided from both, websites and friends and relatives. On the other hand, although the purchase of arrival transport and the accommodation is made mainly through the company's website (69.6% and 41.3% respectively) there are a significant number of tourists who book their accommodation through OTAs (online travel agencies) (32.8%), being Booking and Airbnb being the most used.
During the stay, which 5.5 days on average, the two main activities carried out in the municipality were taking quiet and relaxing walks (92.0%) and tasting gastronomy (90,1).
The total expense during the stay per person and day in this tourist profile has been observed with a value of €50.52. Likewise, most of this expenditure is allocated to food and drink, followed, in that order, by shopping, culture and internal transport.
The average overall rating of the municipalities visited was 8.66 out of 10 and the best rated aspects were the character and friendliness of the people (8.61) and the climate (8.59).
